More ways to brew with confidence

Once you have settled on a routine that works, the next step is usually a small upgrade or a new bean to try. These pages cover the gear we reach for most and the lots that keep coming back into the roastery.

Why regulars stick with our roast

We are not the biggest roastery in Johannesburg, and we do not try to be. What we offer is a consistent cup from beans we know by name, roasted twice a week in small batches. Here is what that means when you brew at home.

Roasted on a schedule you can plan around

Every Tuesday and Friday we run the 12kg drum roaster. When you order a bag, it is roasted in that cycle and shipped within a day or two. You are not getting beans that sat on a warehouse shelf for three months. The roast date is on every bag, so you know exactly what you are brewing.

Green beans sourced from farms we visit

Our single origins come from smallholder farms in Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and the East African highlands. We cup every lot before it goes into the roaster, and we pay well above commodity price. That relationship shows up in the cup, and it is why our espresso blend stays balanced from one batch to the next.

Brew guides written for each bean profile

A light roast from Ethiopia behaves differently than a washed lot from Limpopo. Every coffee in our catalogue comes with a brew guide that covers grind size, water temperature, and pour structure. You know what to expect before you buy, and you have a starting point when the bag arrives.

The first Saturday cupping is for you

Once a month we open the roastery for a cupping session. It is a relaxed hour where we taste through the current single origins and blends, talk about what changed since the last roast, and answer whatever brewing questions you bring. Regulars get a feel for how our coffees develop over time, which makes choosing your next bag easier.

Gear that earns its place on your counter

We stock manual brewers, grinders, scales, and filters that we actually use in the roastery. No gimmicks, no gadgets that look good in a photo but complicate your morning. If you are putting together a starter kit or upgrading your pour over setup, we can point you to the piece that makes the biggest difference for your method.
